of peace and justice organizations scattered
throughout America. From Quaker churches in
small towns to advocacy groups in major cities,
the work of peace and justice is an itegral
part of civic life of these United States.
The country's history includes
brave men and wowen who stood the face of obstacles
to declare peace for one another and justice
for all. Americans still treasure the words
found in the Declaration
of Independence: "We
hold these truths to be self-evident that al
men (persons) are are created equal, that they
are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable
Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and
the pursuit of Happiness."
